5 new civilizations

Shu - Take charge of the Shu kingdom and realize Liu Bei's dream of reviving the Han dynasty. Shu's unique units include the White Feather Guard, an infantry that slows down attacking units, and the Chariot, a vehicle equipped with a large repeater that fires a rain of arrows.

Wei - Play as Cao Cao and dominate China with a vast cavalry corps and a scheming approach. Wei's unique units include the Tiger Cavalry, a type of cavalry that upgrades by killing units, and the Xianbei Raiders, a mounted archer that rains down arrows on enemy forces.

Wu - Led the Sun family to glory with infantry and naval prowess. Wu's unique units are the Flame Archer, a ranged soldier who fires flaming arrows, and the Swordsman, a hoplite with a powerful protective shield until the shield breaks.

Jurchens - With the elite hunters, armored cavalry, and gunpowder weapons of the Dajin Dynasty, rule the rugged lands of northeastern China. The Jurchens' unique units include the Iron Float, a type of cavalry that occasionally blocks melee attacks, and the Grenadier, an infantry that throws lethal incendiary grenades at enemies. The skilled hunters, armored cavalry, and gunpowder weapons of the Dajin dynasty would dominate the rugged terrain of northeastern China. The Jurchens' unique forces were the Iron Tower, a type of cavalry that occasionally blocked melee attacks, and the Grenadier, a type of infantry that threw deadly Molotov cocktails at enemies.

Khitan - Recreate the glory of the Liao Dynasty and the Karakhitan, and terrorize your enemies with highly mobile nomadic legions and evil weapons. The Khitan's unique units include the Liao Swordsman, an infantry with deadly swordsmanship that deals continuous damage, and the camel-mounted giant trebuchet, a powerful siege machine. In addition, the Khitans did not farm for food, but gathered from pastures, each of which could be tended by two villagers instead of just one.

Three Kingdoms also introduces several new units and unit sets to enhance players' immersion in Chinese history:

* Blacklight Armored Cavalry - Heavy cavalry. The ordinary and elite Black Light Armored Cavalry replaced the knights, hoplite knights, and rangers of Shu, Wei, and Wu.

* Towed Treult - A lethal mobile siege weapon that provides Shu, Wei, and Wu with an excellent late-stage long-range land siege option.

* Floor Ship – A literal floating fortress that excels at fighting other ships and buildings. Khitan, Jurchen, Shu, Wei and Wu all have this facility.

* Musketeers – Spear-wielding infantry who occasionally use explosive ranged attacks. Such units were found in China, Jurchen, Khitan, Goryeo and Vietnam.

* Rocket Cart - This siege weapon replaces the trebuchet and fires bursts of incendiary rockets at enemies. The Chinese, Jurchen, Khitan, and Goryeo all had such weapons.

* Dragon Boat - The deadliest fireship in the game, unique to China!

3 brand new campaigns

Sichuan:
